Patricia Altschul, star of Bravo's hit show Southern Charm, is baring her soul in her new memoir, Eat, Drink, and Remarry: Memories from a Lifetime of Art, Class, and Southern Charm. The book, published on November 11, promises to take readers on a wild ride through Altschul's life, including her three marriages and lessons learned along the way.

A Lifetime of Love and Lessons

Altschul's journey into love began with her first husband, businessman Lon Smith, whom she met while studying at George Washington University. The two shared a son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, and were married for 14 years before divorcing in 1979. Despite their split, Altschul and Smith remained close friends until his passing in 2021 [2

Her second marriage to Edward Flemming, a psychiatrist and entrepreneur, was marked by red flags from the start. Altschul writes about the 6,000-mile boat trip that made her realize they weren't an ideal match. "I don't recommend marrying a man you've known for only a few weeks," she notes in her book.

Finding Her Happily Ever After

Altschul's third marriage to Arthur Altschul was the charm. The two met in the midst of her split from Flemming and married in 1996. "In my case, the third time was the charm," she writes. Arthur passed away in 2002, but Altschul cherishes the 12 years they shared.
